Outline

March saw a lot of activity, and April 2026 will bring several upcoming car launches in India. The month includes new SUVs, EVs,  and facelifts that buyers have been waiting for.

In the mass-market segment, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift and Maruti Brezza facelift are among the most anticipated launches. In the premium space, the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric with a claimed 792 km range is also going to attract significant attention from luxury buyers.

Other notable launches include the MG Majestor, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV and Nissan Tekton. Mahindra is also expected to bring updates for its ladder-frame SUVs. Here’s a model by model breakdown of all confirmed and expected car launches in India for April 2026, with prices, features and highlights.

2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift — Rs 12 lakh – Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated)

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift

The upcoming Volkswagen Taigun facelift is the first confirmed launch of the month, scheduled for April 9. This is the first major update for the Taigun since it went on sale in India in 2021. Most details are still under wraps. The design changes are expected to be subtle with a refreshed front, updated DRL lights and tweaked alloy wheels.

Inside, there will be new upholstery, updated trim and possibly a refreshed infotainment system. A key mechanical update is the new 8-speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0L TSI petrol engine. The 1.5L TSI engine with the 6-speed DSG will remain unchanged in higher variants.

The upcoming Taigun is the first car in April that buyers can check out at dealerships. Competitors like the Skoda Kushaq facelift, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos will likely watch VW’s pricing closely.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric — Rs. 55 lakh – Rs. 59 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated)

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is a new addition to India’s luxury EV segment. It’s a fully electric car built on Mercedes’ dedicated MMA platform, not adapted from a combustion model. It will be offered in two variants: CLA 200 ‘Standard Range’ and CLA 250+ ‘Long Range’.

The CLA 250+ comes with an 85 kWh battery and a claimed range of up to 792 km, making it one of the longest-range EVs under Rs 60 lakh in India. The CLA 200 offers a range of 542 km.

The EV is loaded with premium features, including a 14-inch MBUX Superscreen, panoramic glass roof, illuminated radiator grille, 101-litre front storage (frunk), and front seats with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The CLA replaces the A-Class Limousine, EQA, and EQB in Mercedes-Benz India’s lineup.

Bookings opened in early March. Deliveries for the CLA 250+ are expected from the end of April, while the CLA 200 will start reaching buyers in June.

MG Majestor — Rs. 40 lakh – Rs. 45 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated)

The MG Majestor was officially revealed in February 2026 and is positioned as a direct successor to the Gloster, MG's earlier full-size flagship SUV. Pre-bookings are already underway at Rs. 41,000, and April is expected to see the official price announcement, with deliveries starting in May 2026.

MG Majestor

The Majestor makes a bold visual statement. Its front end is far more dramatic than the Gloster's, a large sculpted grille, updated LED lighting layout, and redesigned alloy wheels give it a significantly more commanding road presence. The three-row cabin has been revamped with added equipment, improved material quality, and a feature list that pushes it closer to premium territory.

The Majestor will directly compete with the Toyota Fortuner and to some extent the Mahindra Scorpio-N in the full-size premium SUV space. At the estimated Rs. 40–45 lakh bracket, it aims to offer value that's difficult to match in the segment. MG is banking on the Majestor to rebuild momentum in the large SUV space after the Gloster's relatively quiet run in recent years.

Given that bookings are already live and the model has been publicly revealed, the April price reveal should be a formality rather than a surprise. Buyers who have been fence-sitting on large diesel SUVs will finally have a number to compare against.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella — Rs. 16 lakh – Rs. 19.50 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated)

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella is the Japanese brand's electric counterpart to the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the two sharing the same Suzuki-developed platform. With the e Vitara having already received its pricing, all eyes are now on Toyota to reveal what the Ebella will cost, and April is the most likely window for that announcement.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV

The 2026 Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV comes with two battery options. The 49 kWh battery delivers 144 PS, while the 61 kWh version produces 174 PS. Both batteries offer the same torque of 189 Nm. According to ARAI, the Toyota Ebella EV range reaches up to 543 km on a single charge.

Toyota may differentiate the Ebella from its Maruti twin through different trim packaging, feature calibration, and potentially its own ADAS configuration tuned to Toyota's specifications.

One potentially significant move from Toyota is the introduction of a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, where buyers can purchase the vehicle at a lower upfront cost and pay separately for the battery over time.

If priced similarly to the e Vitara, the Ebella will compete directly with the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and MG ZS EV. Toyota's after-sales network and brand trust could tip the scales for buyers sitting on the fence between comparable products.

Nissan Tekton — Rs. 11 lakh – Rs. 18 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated)

Nissan is expected to take the wraps off the Tekton in India this month. It sits on the same CMF-B platform as the new Renault Duster but this is not just the same car with a different badge. Renault has already brought the Duster back, so it was only a matter of time before Nissan followed with its own version.

From the teasers and sketches shared earlier, the Tekton does not look like a rebadged Duster. Nissan seems to have gone in a different direction with the design. Up front, there are connected LED DRLs and a distinct grille. At the rear, full-width LED tail lamps give it a wider look. The alloy wheels also lean more towards a clean, urban style rather than a rugged one.

Nissan Tekton

Under the hood, the Tekton is likely to carry the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine as the Duster. Manual and automatic options are expected. The bigger change could be inside. Nissan may tweak the cabin layout and feature list to make it feel a bit more premium. That would also help it stand apart in terms of pricing and positioning.

The timing puts it right into a crowded space. It will go up against the Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Hyundai Creta. Nissan’s approach looks simple on paper. Take a platform that already works and give it a different personality. Now it comes down to how well that translates in the final product.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift — Rs. 8.50 lakh – Rs. 14 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated)

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift has been spotted testing multiple times on Indian roads. Early timelines pointed to a launch in early 2026, but that now seems to have shifted slightly. The latest expectation is around April or May, likely because more testing is being done for updated engine and safety systems.

This update looks more than just cosmetic. One of the biggest changes being talked about is the possible addition of a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. This is the same unit that already does duty in the Fronx. If that happens, it could change how the Brezza is priced.

The existing 1.5-litre petrol engine is expected to continue. The CNG option is also likely to stay. One practical issue with the current car is the boot space loss due to the CNG tank. That might get sorted this time with an underbody tank setup, something Maruti has already started using in other models.

Inside the cabin, a few upgrades are expected. A larger 10.1-inch touchscreen could come in. A fully digital instrument cluster and ventilated front seats are also likely additions. Level 2 ADAS might be offered on higher variants, though that will depend on how Maruti wants to position it.

The Brezza is already a strong seller, so even small changes tend to have a big impact. This update could shift things again in the compact SUV space. Rivals like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet will be watching this closely.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Facelift — Rs. 14 lakh – Rs. 26 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated)

Mahindra had confirmed back in February 2026 that two ICE launches are planned for this year. One of them is an update to the Scorpio lineup, covering both the Scorpio-N and the Scorpio Classic. The Scorpio-N facelift was earlier expected in Q1 but that timeline seems to have shifted. Right now, April looks like a realistic window, though it still depends on how final testing wraps up.

The changes on the outside are quite noticeable. Test cars show a new front grille with bold horizontal slats. The bumpers have been reworked, and the headlamps now get updated DRLs. Alloy wheels could go up to 18 or even 19 inches, likely shared with the Thar Roxx.

Mahindra Scorpio-N off road 2025

The overall shape does not change. It still looks like a Scorpio-N from a distance. But the new front gives it a sharper and more commanding presence. Inside, the biggest change being talked about is a possible triple-screen setup. This is similar to what Mahindra introduced in the XUV 7XO. A panoramic sunroof is also expected. Other additions could include a Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, powered front seats with memory, and wireless connectivity features.

Mechanically, things should stay the same. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines are expected to continue with both manual and automatic options. This update seems focused on closing the feature gap. Rivals like the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus have moved ahead on tech.

Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift — Rs. 12 lakh – Rs. 18 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated)

The second ICE update from Mahindra this year is the three-door Thar facelift. Unlike the smaller update it received in 2025, this one is expected to be more detailed. It liekely to get a proper refresh before an all-new generation arrives later. From what has been seen in testing, the design takes cues from the Thar Roxx. The front gets circular LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, sculpted bumper, and a more defined grille.

Mahindra Thar 3-Door

At the rear, there are updated LED tail lamps and subtle changes to the body panels. New alloy wheel designs are also expected. Inside, a larger touchscreen is likely. Features like an auto-dimming mirror, centre armrest, and added convenience elements are expected to come in. The idea seems to be closing the gap with the more premium Thar Roxx. Engine options should remain unchanged. The 1.5-litre diesel, 2.0-litre turbo petrol, and 2.2-litre diesel are all expected to continue.

A full launch in April looks unlikely at this point. But a reveal or teaser could still happen around that time, depending on how the Scorpio-N update lines up.
