The Volkswagen Taigun was first introduced in India in September 2021. It quickly found its footing in the mid-size SUV segment. Built on the MQB A0 IN platform, a platform specifically adapted for India.
Now, nearly five years since launch, the Taigun is due for its first major facelift. Volkswagen India is expected to launch the 2026 Taigun facelift on April 9, 2026. Just days after the Skoda Kushaq facelift, which shares the same platform, was introduced in March 2026.
Test mules have been spotted multiple times in recent months with minimal camouflage, giving a fairly clear picture of what is coming. The facelift is expected to bring a refreshed exterior, a more premium interior, and an expanded feature list that brings the Taigun in line with what buyers now expect in this segment.
Upcoming Volkswagen Taigun Facelift launch soon — What to expect?
The exterior updates for the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift are expected to be more of a refresh than a full redesign. Based on the spied test mule, the overall silhouette will likely remain unchanged, but the front end appears sharper.

Up front, sleeker, eye-shaped LED headlamps are expected to replace the current rectangular units, along with wider LED DRLs. An illuminated Volkswagen logo on the grille is also likely, while the front bumper may switch to cleaner horizontal slats instead of mesh inserts.
At the rear, updated tail lamps with a slightly larger design and possible sequential turn indicators are anticipated. An illuminated VW badge is also expected.
From the side, the profile should remain the same, but new blacked-out alloy wheel designs, dual-tone options on higher variants, and new exterior colours are likely to be introduced.

2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift interior & features
The upcoming Taigun facelift interior is expected to see the most noticeable upgrades, likely drawing from recent updates seen on its sibling models. A larger 10.01-inch touchscreen infotainment system is anticipated, possibly with Google built in and AI assistant support. It is also expected to get a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation.

A panoramic sunroof is likely to be introduced, which could be a big addition for buyers in this segment. Front ventilated seats, rear seat massager, wireless charger, ambient lighting, and front parking sensors, among others, are also expected.
On the safety front, features like six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold control, and multi-collision braking, among others, will continue unchanged.
Volkswagen Taigun facelift engine options

The Taigun facelift is expected to continue with the same two turbo-petrol engines, with no major powertrain changes anticipated. The 1.0-litre TSI engine produces 115PS and 178Nm, remaining the entry-level option. While the 6-speed manual should carry over, the automatic is expected to be upgraded from a 6-speed torque converter to a new 8-speed unit. The 1.5-litre TSI engine is also expected to remain unchanged, delivering 150PS and 250Nm. It will continue with the 7-speed DSG transmission.
