Jharkhand RTO vehicle information: Check vehicle details by number plate

Jharkhand comprises 24 districts, and has set up 24 RTOs to assist its residents with vehicle and driving licence related service, among others. With an estimated population of over 4 crore people, the RTOs in Jharkhand control, manage and regulate the rules and regulations of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, and provide assistance regarding vehicle owner details and vehicle registration details to the citizens.

Jharkhand Vehicle Registration Process

To register a private or non-commercial vehicle, you must visit your local zonal office of the Transport Department. There are certain authorised dealers with registration powers who will only deliver vehicles after they have been registered. Once registration numbers have been allocated, the applicant is issued a fee receipt on the same day, and the zonal office will keep the documents. You can keep the registration fee receipt as confirmation of your registration application.

You can collect the registration certificate, known as Form − 23 A, once the smart card has been prepared.

The registration process requires the vehicle to be physically inspected by the Inspecting Authority at the zonal office for verification, followed by the actual registration. The necessary documents for registration include:

1. A completed Form 20

2. A Form 21 (Sale certificate) provided by the vehicle dealer

3. A Form 22 (Road worthiness certificate) issued by the manufacturer

4. An attested copy of a valid vehicle insurance policy or cover note

5. An attested copy of your address proof where the vehicle will be registered

6. A signed Form 34 by both the owner and the financer

7. The applicable one-time road tax

8. The prescribed registration fee

9. Your PAN Card or Forms 60 & 61 (as needed)

10. Parking fees

11. The dealer's invoice along with the manufacturer's invoice
