Mahindra BE 6

The BE 6 uses Mahindra's INGLO electric platform and is currently offered with rear-wheel drive. There are three battery capacities across the range, with the larger packs bringing more power and longer claimed range. Since it's an EV, all trims come with a single-speed automatic transmission. 

59 kWh Battery

The 59 kWh battery produces 228 bhp and 380 Nm. It is available on the lower variants and already gives the BE 6 enough performance to feel quick in everyday driving. This version makes sense if you want the BE 6's styling, driving character and technology without paying for the larger battery. The claimed range of  548 km is also enough for regular city use and occasional highway trips.

70 kWh Battery

The 70 kWh battery increases power to 241 bhp and takes the claimed range to 651 km. It is available from the SPORTEQ Three variant onwards. The extra range makes this a more useful option if you regularly drive longer distances, while the additional power gives it a small performance advantage over the 59 kWh version.

79 kWh Battery

The 79 kWh pack is the performance-focused option, producing 282 bhp and 380 Nm. It also provides the highest claimed range of 683 km. The BE 6 with this battery can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in around 6.7 seconds, making it considerably quicker than most mainstream EVs in this price bracket. The rear-wheel-drive layout also gives it a more engaging drive than a typical front-wheel-drive family EV.

City Driving & Ride Quality

The BE 6 is easy to drive in traffic because the electric motor delivers its power immediately and smoothly. Its compact length helps in tighter spaces, although the wide 1,907 mm body and low roof can take some getting used to.

Regenerative braking can be adjusted using the paddles, while the single-pedal mode can bring the car to a complete stop when the accelerator is released. It takes some familiarity for first-time EV owners, but it works well in stop-and-go traffic.

The ride is on the firmer side. Smooth roads are handled well, while uneven surfaces can introduce some side-to-side movement, particularly with the larger wheels.

Highway Performance

The BE 6 is at its best when you want instant acceleration. The 79 kWh version's 6.7-second 0-100 km/h time gives it plenty of reserve for overtaking, even with passengers on board.

The cabin also remains relatively quiet at speed because there is no engine or gearbox noise. The steering is light at lower speeds and gains weight as speeds rise, although the feel remains more artificial than particularly communicative.

The One is the entry point and gets the 59 kWh battery with 228 bhp. Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Two

The Two adds 19-inch wheels, leatherette trim, power-folding ORVMs, an auto-dimming IRVM, wireless charging and dual-zone climate control. It also brings the 12.3-inch passenger display and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos. A 540-degree camera and front parking sensors further improve the equipment list.

Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Three

The Three is where the 70 kWh battery enters the range. It also adds a fixed panoramic glass roof, acoustic laminated door glass, a 6-way powered driver's seat with memory, ventilated front seats and additional charging options.

Who should buy it: A sensible choice if you want the larger battery and a more comfortable cabin without paying for the top-end technology.

Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Three Plus

The Three Plus can be specified with the 70 kWh and 79 kWh batteries. It adds 19-inch alloy wheels, illuminated exterior elements, customisable rear lighting, ambient lighting, passive keyless entry, powered flush door handles and a powered tailgate with gesture control. It also gets auto regeneration and Level-2 driver assistance.

Who should buy it: Worth considering if you want the 79 kWh battery along with a richer equipment list and ADAS.

Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Four

The Four is the technology-heavy version of the regular lineup. It adds Google Gemini-based voice assistance, an in-car gaming suite, Dolby Vision, automatic parking, an AR head-up display and an air-quality system with an AQI display. Its higher-end ADAS setup uses five radars and one vision camera.

Who should buy it: Buyers who want the BE 6 with the maximum technology and do not mind paying for features that are not essential to the driving experience.

Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Freedom Edition

The Formula E Freedom Edition is based on the higher variants and gets a different exterior treatment with Formula E detailing. It also brings a dedicated cockpit design with the signature halo, virtual engine sounds and adaptive suspension on the relevant version. The Four-based version gets 20-inch alloy wheels and additional Formula E-specific cabin touches.

Who should buy it: Mainly for buyers who want the special-edition design and Formula E theme rather than a major change in the BE 6's core mechanical package.

Which BE 6 Variant Should You Buy?

• Best budget choice: SPORTEQ One 59 kWh if the core BE 6 experience is what you want.

• Best balance: SPORTEQ Three, particularly if you want the 70 kWh battery and useful comfort upgrades.

• Best long-range choice: Three Plus 79 kWh for its larger battery and added equipment.

• Best technology package: Four 79 kWh if you want the complete driver-assistance and cabin tech package.

The BE 6 is available with 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, with claimed range going from 548 km to 683 km. Actual range depends heavily on speed, traffic, temperature, air-conditioning use and driving style.

For mixed real-world driving, the 59 kWh version can cover around 380-450 km, while the 79 kWh battery is estimated at around 450-520 km. Highway speeds reduce the range further, particularly when cruising at 100 km/h or above.

At lower cruising speeds, the 79 kWh BE 6 can travel significantly farther on a charge. At around 80 km/h, real-world range can be around 400-450 km, while sustained 100 km/h driving can bring it closer to 315-350 km. Heavy use of the air-conditioning, high speeds and a full load will also reduce range.

Mahindra BE 6 Charging Time

The BE 6 supports both home AC charging and high-power DC fast charging. With a compatible high-capacity DC charger, both battery sizes can go from 20% to 80% in around 20 minutes.

On lower-output public DC chargers, charging takes considerably longer. A 60 kW charger can take roughly 65 minutes from 5% to 80%, while a 90 kW charger can take around 45 minutes.

The BE 6 uses the INGLO platform and supports vehicle-to-vehicle charging capability, allowing it to share energy with another compatible vehicle. Its multiple drive modes and regenerative braking settings also let the driver adjust how the car responds to different driving conditions.

Front Design

The front gets C-shaped LED DRLs that wrap around the main headlight units. The bonnet is heavily sculpted, while the lower section uses aerodynamic elements to manage airflow around the front of the car. Side Profile

The side profile makes the coupe-SUV shape most obvious. The roof slopes towards the rear, while the black wheel arches and body cladding visually hide some of the car's width. Flush-fitting door handles pop out when the car is unlocked, while the rear door handles are integrated into the bodywork. Wheel sizes range from 18 inches to 20 inches depending on the variant.

Rear Design

The rear is cleaner than the front but still uses angular detailing. C-shaped LED tail lamps frame the tailgate, with higher variants getting illuminated elements and customisable lighting signatures. The roof spoiler and lower diffuser-style section add to the sporty appearance, while the gloss-black trim will need some care because it can show scratches easily.

Mahindra BE 6 Colours

The regular BE 6 is available in Ruby Velvet, Tango Red, Firestorm Orange, Deep Forest, Stealth Black, Everest White and Desert Myst. The SPORTEQ Launch Edition gets an exclusive Graphite Stone finish, while the Formula E Freedom Edition is available in Rosso Impulso.

The BE 6's interior is almost as different as its exterior. Instead of a traditional SUV dashboard, Mahindra has gone for a cockpit-inspired layout with multiple screens, unusual controls and a driver-focused seating position.

Standard Safety Kit

The BE 6 gets features such as electronic stability control, airbags, all-wheel disc brakes and tyre-pressure monitoring, with the exact equipment varying by variant. The BE 6 is quicker and has a more unusual design. Its rear-wheel-drive layout and stronger performance make it more enjoyable for buyers who like a faster car.

Mahindra BE 6 vs Tata Curvv EV

The Tata Curvv EV is the more affordable option and gives you a coupe-SUV design without moving too far from a regular family car. It also has enough space and features for everyday use.

The BE 6 costs more, but you get more powerful battery options, stronger acceleration and rear-wheel drive. It makes more sense if you want performance along with the coupe-SUV shape.

Its cabin is equally different, with a cockpit-style layout, multiple screens and plenty of technology on higher variants. The latest SPORTEQ range also gives buyers more choice, from the straightforward One to the heavily equipped Four.

There are practical compromises. The low roof makes getting in and out less convenient for some passengers, rear visibility is restricted, and the ride can feel firm over uneven roads. The most impressive technology also requires moving well up the price range.

Against the Creta Electric and Curvv EV, the BE 6 is the more performance-focused and distinctive option. The XEV 9e offers more space and a more premium experience, but it also costs more. The BE 6 therefore sits in a useful middle ground for buyers who want speed and technology without moving into a much larger EV.

If performance, design and technology matter more to you than having the easiest rear-seat access or softest ride, the BE 6 is one of the more interesting EVs in this price range. For most buyers, the Three or Three Plus variants offer a better balance than paying the full premium for the Four.
