Kia India has launched the electric version of the Carens Clavis MPV, marking its entry into the mass market EV space. The Clavis EV is based on the ICE Clavis, and gets its powertrain options from the Hyundai Creta Electric. Kia is offering an 8-year/1,60,000km warranty on the battery pack. The Kia Carens Clavis EV bookings will commence from July 22, 2025.

The Clavis EV comes with the option of a 135PS and a 171PS electric motor. It gets the option of a 51.4kWh battery pack and a 42kWh battery pack, both taken from the Creta Electric. The claimed 0-100kmph time stands at 8.4 seconds with the larger battery.

Kia Carens Clavis EV range and charging time
The ARAI-claimed Kia Clavis EV range stands at 404km with the 42kWh battery pack, and 490km with the 51.4kWh battery pack. It gets a 10%-80% charging time of 39 minutes using a 100kW DC fast charger. Home charging options include a 7.4kW and an 11kW AC charger.

Based on the ICE Carens Clavis, most of the exterior panels and design cues are shared with the MPV. Key changes include differently styled wheels, a revised front grille, a charging port at the front, and EV badges. The Kia Carens Clavis EV ground clearance is 200mm.

The dashboard isn’t too different from the standard Clavis either. There’s a new floating centre console that frees up space in the first row, and a steering-column-mounted gear shifter. Notable Kia Carens Clavis EV features include V2L capability, active air flaps, Level-2 ADAS with 20 functionalities, dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation, blind spot monitors, 8-speaker Bose sound system, one-touch tumbling second row seats, boss mode, adjustable cup holders, ventilated front seats, and more.
