Best selling Skoda cars in India - Three pillars?

Skoda India has been selling around 2,600 cars every month, while its sister-company, Volkswagen India, sells around 3,300. Most of Skoda’s sales comes from the Kushaq and Slavia, with Kushaq leading the pack. Here’s a list of the best-selling Skoda cars in India over the past 6 months.

Skoda Kushaq

The Kushaq has taken over the Slavia to become Skoda India’s most-selling car, selling a marginal 85 more units than the sedan over the past 6 months. The Kushaq comes with two engine options — 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI. Skoda Kushaq rivals include Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and of course, the Taigun.

Skoda Slavia 

Unlike Volkswagen, the sedan has been left behind by the Kushaq in the list of the brand’s top-selling cars. Sitting at the second spot now, the Skoda Slavia comes with the same set of powertrains as seen on the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Volkswagen Virtus. Popular Skoda Slavia rivals include Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. 

Skoda Kodiaq

Skoda Kodiaq, the Czech carmaker’s flagship SUV in India, garnered 997 units of sales over the last six months, averaging a little over 150 units a month. The Kodiaq comes equipped with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine paired to a 7-speed DSG. It comes in an AWD configuration and rivals cars such as Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Hyundai Tucson and the new Nissan X-Trail.

Skoda Superb

Being a CBU, the current Skoda Superb is outrageously expensive, carrying a price tag that starts at Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Skoda India still managed to find 36 buyers for the Superb over the last six months, with three cars sold in August 2024. The Superb features the same powertrain as that of the Kodiaq, but comes in a FWD configuration.
