Citroen Basalt X Comfort Edition launched at Rs 8.75 lakh — More features at a lower trim

Citroen has launched the Basalt X Comfort Edition in India at a starting price of Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom). Introduced as part of the brand's 108th anniversary celebrations, the new edition adds several premium comfort and convenience features to the lower trims of the Basalt. It is the second Comfort Edition launched by Citroen in India this year, following a similar update for the Aircross SUV.
Why Citroen is pushing a Comfort Edition now
The launch of the Basalt X Comfort Edition also comes at a time when the model has been struggling in terms of sales. Over the past four months, the Basalt has remained at the bottom of the C-segment SUV sales chart, with monthly sales staying below 100 units. By bringing premium features to lower trims without increasing the price significantly, Citroen appears to be making the Basalt a more attractive option for buyers instead of waiting for a full model update.
Features added with the Comfort AXS pack on the Citroen Basalt X Comfort Edition
The biggest highlight of the Basalt X Comfort Edition is the new Comfort AXS pack, which adds several premium features to the You and Plus trims. It includes beige leatherette seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a JBL audio system, wireless phone charging, a rear-view camera, and a dual-channel dashcam.
The special edition also comes with features such as power-folding ORVMs, one-touch auto up/down windows, soft-touch cabin materials, keyless entry with push-button start, reclining rear seats, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, and a 470-litre boot.
Citroen Basalt X Comfort Edition engine and transmission options
The Basalt X Comfort Edition continues with the same engine options as the standard model. The You trim is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 82bhp and 115Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Plus and Max trims get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that develops 110bhp and up to 205Nm, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Citroen Basalt X Comfort Edition is positioned alongside the standard You, Plus and Turbo AT Plus trims. The You Comfort Edition is priced at Rs 8.75 lakh, making it Rs 20,000 more expensive than the regular You variant while adding several premium comfort features. In contrast, the Plus Comfort Edition, Turbo Plus Comfort Edition, and Turbo AT Plus Comfort Edition are priced exactly the same as their corresponding standard variants with added equipment at no extra cost.
