Kia Sonet gets MY26 update — Diesel AT & Turbo Petrol DCT now more affordable

The MY26 Kia Sonet iteration has been launched in India with a clear tweak to its engine lineup. Kia has made the diesel automatic and turbo petrol 7DCT more accessible by bringing them into lower trims, both now priced under Rs 10 lakh.
The new variants start at Rs 9,77,900 for the diesel automatic and Rs 9,89,900 for the turbo petrol 7DCT (ex-showroom), opening up these powertrain options to a wider set of buyers.
MY26 Kia Sonet diesel and turbo petrol offered in more trims
In the MY26 Kia Sonet, the 1.5-litre diesel with a 6-speed automatic is now available across HTE(O), HTK(O), HTK+, and HTK+(O) variants. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol with the 7DCT, meanwhile, is offered in HTK(O) and HTK+(O).
This expansion fills a clear gap. The Sonet now brings automatic options to a much lower price point and becomes the first SUV in its segment to offer both a 6AT and a 7DCT under Rs 10 lakh.

2026 Kia Sonet colour options — New shade added
Apart from this update, Kia has introduced a vibrant new exterior colour, Magma Red. The other existing monotone shades include Pewter Olive, Pearl White, Gravity Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, Imperial Blue, Clear White, and a matte Graphite, which is exclusive to HTK+ only.
In dual-tone options, the Sonet comes in Pearl White with Aurora Black Pearl, and Magma Red with Aurora Black Pearl. X-Line colours are Aurora Black Pearl and Xclusive Matte Graphite.

The Kia Sonet comes with a choice of three engines to suit different driving needs. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is a 4-cylinder unit producing 83PS at 6,000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 4,200rpm, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
For those looking for more performance, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol 3-cylinder engine delivers 120PS at 6,000rpm and 172Nm of torque between 1,500 and 4,000rpm. It can be paired with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. The 1.5-litre diesel 4-cylinder engine generates 116PS at 4,000rpm and 250Nm of torque from 1,500 to 2,750rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, or a 6-speed automatic. All engines are configured with a 2WD drive system.

The MY26 Sonet lineup has expanded, with the diesel Automatic trims starting at Rs 9.77 lakh and going up to Rs 11.56 lakh. Meanwhile, the turbo petrol 7DCT starts at Rs 9.89 lakh and goes up to Rs 10.83 lakh.
