Upcoming Kia Sorento India — pre-bookings now open ahead of launch
Alongside the teaser, Kia India has confirmed that official pre-bookings for the all-new Sorento are now open, ahead of its formal India launch. Interested customers can reserve their unit through their nearest Kia India dealership or by visiting the Kia India website. The company has stated that further details on the SUV, presumably covering specifications, variants and pricing, will be announced in due course, meaning much of the Sorento's India-specific configuration remains under wraps for now.
Kia Sorento India — A nameplate with a long global track record

The Sorento is not a new model for Kia globally, having made its debut back in 2002. In the years since, it has grown into one of the brand's most successful nameplates worldwide, spanning four generations. It has accumulated over 4.8 million units sold across 132 countries. The SUV has consistently ranked among Kia's top three best-selling models globally in both 2024 and 2025
The Sorento's global reputation is also backed by a number of safety and quality accolades, including the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating, a 5-Star NHTSA safety rating, and Car and Driver's Editors' Choice award.
Kia Sorento launch and price expectations
The Kia Sorento is expected to launch in India by the end of August or early September. Prices could start between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 45 lakh, ex-showroom. The final price will depend on how Kia brings the SUV to India. It could be imported as a completely built unit (CBU), assembled locally using semi-knocked-down (SKD) kits, or produced with a higher level of local sourcing.
Rivals
As a three-row SUV, the Kia Sorento is expected to compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Volkswagen Tayron and Skoda Kodiaq in India. Its petrol-hybrid powertrain could also make it an alternative to ladder-frame SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner and MG Majestor. However, the Sorento uses a monocoque platform and is expected to prioritise comfort and on-road performance over off-road capability.
