The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift has secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating ahead of its official launch. The SUV scored five stars for both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP), making it one of the safest models in its segment. The crash test results were published by Bharat NCAP before the SUV's official price announcement and full launch.

In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) test, the Brezza facelift scored 30.41 out of 32 points, earning a 5-star rating. It received 14.41 out of 16 in the frontal offset crash test and a full 16 out of 16 in the side impact test. The SUV also passed the side pole impact test, with Bharat NCAP rating its performance as "OK."
In the frontal crash test, protection for most body regions of both the driver and front passenger was rated good. Protection for the driver's legs and the front passenger's legs and pelvis was rated adequate.

In the Child Occupant Protection (COP) test, the Brezza facelift scored 43 out of 49 points, securing another 5-star rating. It received full marks in both the dynamic crash test (24/24) and Child Restraint System (CRS) installation (12/12), along with 7 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment.
For the crash tests, Bharat NCAP used 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies placed in rearward-facing child seats using i-Size ISOFIX mounts. Both child seats scored full marks in the frontal and side impact tests, with no points deducted.
The report also confirms that the second-row outer seats come with ISOFIX and i-Size anchor points as standard. These mounting points are not available on the front passenger seat or the second-row centre seat. Bharat NCAP also found the Brezza compatible with several approved child seats from brands including Britax Romer, Peg Perego, Bebe Comfort, Graco and Cybex when installed in the second-row outer seats.
Maruti Brezza standard safety equipment across the range
The Bharat NCAP report also lists the safety equipment fitted to the tested Brezza. It comes with front airbags, seat belt pretensioners and load limiters for both the driver and front passenger, while a driver's knee airbag is not offered. For side-impact protection, the SUV gets side curtain airbags for both rows and side chest airbags for the front occupants, although pelvis airbags and separate head/thorax airbags are not available.
For child safety, ISOFIX and i-Size anchor points are provided on the second-row outer seats, while the front passenger seat and rear centre seat do not get them. The report also notes that the Brezza does not offer an integrated child restraint system or a front passenger airbag cut-off switch. In addition, ESC, pedestrian protection and seat belt reminders are standard across all variants covered by the 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.
Which Maruti Brezza Facelift variants and powertrains the rating covers
According to Bharat NCAP, the tested vehicle was the Brezza ZXI+ equipped with the 1.5-litre petrol engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. The SUV had a tested weight of 1,471 kg and was evaluated under the AIS-197 safety protocol, which is used for Bharat NCAP crash tests in India.
However, the 5-star safety rating is not limited to this single test vehicle. The Bharat NCAP annexure confirms that the rating applies to the entire petrol-powered Brezza lineup, including the LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+ variants. It covers all three powertrain options offered on the facelift: the 1.5-litre petrol manual, 1.5-litre petrol automatic, and the new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol manual.
