MG Hector Hawk launch date confirmed in India — ADAPT platform

JSW MG Motor India is set to launch its new SUV on August 26, 2026. The company has now confirmed that the model will be called the Hector Hawk. The SUV will become the third model under MG's Hector range, following the Hector and Hector Plus. Plus, it will be the first MG model in India to be based on the company's new ADAPT platform.

MG Hector Hawk launch soon — based on the Wuling Starlight 560

The MG Hector Hawk is based on the globally sold Wuling Starlight 560, which measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,755mm in height. The SUV has been spotted testing in India several times, revealing a few key design details. Spy shots show rectangular LED headlamps, LED DRLs at the top and bottom, wraparound LED tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a charging port on the left rear fender. The test vehicle also featured a closed-off front grille, indicating it was likely the electric version.

The Hector Hawk will be one of two new MG models based on the company's new ADAPT platform that are expected to arrive during the current financial year. The platform is designed to support battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, range-extender and strong-hybrid powertrains. However, MG has confirmed that the Hector Hawk will initially be offered only with EV and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.

MG Hector Hawk exterior and interior features

Based on the Wuling Starlight 560 it is derived from, the MG Hector Hawk is expected to get a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel. Other expected features include all-LED lighting, large dual-tone alloy wheels, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a 50W wireless phone charger, a premium sound system, and electrically adjustable front seats.

On the safety front, the Hector Hawk is expected to come with six airbags, ABS, TPMS, hill-hold assist, an electronic parking brake, parking sensors, 360-degree camera, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), cruise control, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. among others.

MG Hector Hawk EV and PHEV powertrain details

The electric version of the Hector Hawk is expected to get a 56.7kWh to 69.2kWh battery pack, paired with a single front-mounted electric motor producing around 201hp and 310Nm. Depending on the battery pack, the SUV could offer a claimed driving range of up to 530km on the international model.

The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version is expected to use a 1.5-litre petrol engine along with a 20.5kWh battery pack and an electric motor. Together, the system is expected to produce around 195hp and 230Nm. It is also likely to offer an electric-only range of about 125km, allowing buyers to complete most daily drives on battery power before the petrol engine takes over for longer trips.

Expected pricing and market positioning

The MG Hector Hawk is expected to be positioned above the current MG Hector, with prices likely to range between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 27 lakh, depending on the variant and powertrain. The EV version is expected to rival the Mahindra XEV 9S, while the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version will compete with models like the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. This will place the Hector Hawk in the premium midsize SUV segment.
