Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology

The ‘Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology’ is the official name for the electric G-Wagen that was launched at a starting price of Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The SUV promises to retain its off-road prowess while being powered by electric fuel.
Battery and motor specs
The Mercedes-Benz EQG comes equipped with four electric motors — one for each wheel. The motors produce a combined power output of 587PS and an impressive 1,164Nm of torque. As a result, this boxy SUV can propel itself from standstill to 100kmph in under 4.7 seconds. The quad-motor setup is conjoined to a 116kWh battery, which has a claimed WLTP range of 473 kilometres.

Offroad-specific features

The G-Wagon electric gets an independent front suspension and a rigid axle at the rear, staying true to its off-roading legacy. It has a water wading depth of 850mm. This new electric SUV in India also gets a Low Range off-road gearing mode along with a G-Steering function, which enables the SUV to rotate 360° in its place and ensures a smaller turning circle when driving off-road.
Design and styling
The G 580 is unmistakably a Geländewagen, donning the classic boxy silhouette that is typical to the G-Class. It is easily recognizable as a G-Wagen from any angle you view it. The front grille is surrounded by a thin LED band, which gives it an appealing look. The SUV sits on 18-inch alloy wheels, which come as standard.
Interior and features

The Mercedes EQG interior is quite similar to the ICE SUVs, featuring a twin-screen setup on the dashboard loaded with the MBUX system. Key electric G-Wagen features include physical HVAC controls, Burmester surround sound system, keyless entry, leather upholstery, 360-degree cameras, and more.
