BMW India has launched the facelifted BMW i7 electric sedan alongside the new petrol-powered 7 Series. The BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport is priced at Rs 1,95,00,000, while the i7 M70 xDrive costs Rs 2,65,00,000 (ex-showroom). The i7 eDrive50 costs the same as the petrol 740 M Sport.
India is now the second country after Germany where the BMW i7 is produced locally. It is made at the BMW Group Plant Chennai. The i7 M70 xDrive, however, will be brought to India as a Completely Built-Up Unit.
BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive — Battery, range and performance

The BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive gets two electric motors and produces 455bhp and 660Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km/h.
Power comes from a 112.5 kWh battery. BMW says its updated battery technology increases the claimed WLTP range to 728 km. This is 125 km more than the outgoing model and, according to BMW, the best range in its class.
2026 BMW i7 M70 xDrive — The most powerful 7 Series ever
The BMW i7 M70 xDrive is the performance-focused version of the 7 Series range. It uses two electric motors with all-wheel drive and produces 680bhp. It makes 1,015Nm of torque in Sport mode, which rises to 1,100 Nm with Launch Control or M Sport Boost.
The i7 M70 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. It uses the same 112.5 kWh battery as the eDrive50 and has a claimed WLTP range of 686 km.

New BMW i7 M70 xDrive design and chassis upgrades
The 2026 BMW i7 M70 xDrive gets several design changes to give it a sportier look. At the front, it gets larger air curtains, a bigger central air intake and a small spoiler lip. The Iconic Glow kidney grille gets a darker light pattern and an M graphic.
The M70 also gets smoke-black crystals inside the BMW Individual crystal headlights, along with M badges on the side and rear. Other changes include black high-gloss mirrors with Seehaus stripes, black window surrounds, black side skirts and a Black Sapphire M rear spoiler.
At the rear, the M70 gets a wider diffuser that covers almost the full width of the car. Vertical reflectors on the outer edges of the bumper further highlight its wider stance. The chassis gets an M-specific adaptive 2-axle air suspension, rear-wheel steering, Adaptive M Chassis Control Professional, M Launch Control and M Sport brakes. It rides on 21-inch M aerodynamic wheels with mixed-size tyres.
2026 BMW i7 facelift interior, technology and comfort

Both i7 versions get the same cabin layout as the new petrol 7 Series. The dashboard features BMW Panoramic iDrive, BMW Operating System X, BMW Panoramic Vision and the BMW Passenger Screen. Rear passengers get Executive Lounge seats with up to 43 degrees of recline, along with a 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen. The screen is paired with a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos.
The i7 M70 gets some extra M-specific touches inside, including Carbon Fibre M interior trim with silver threads, piano black details on the centre console, an M leather steering wheel, illuminated M door sill trims and BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery.
BMW i7 charging and ownership
Both i7 versions support 250 kW DC charging. The battery can charge from 10 to 80% in around 28 minutes and can add around 235 km of range in 10 minutes. A 22 kW AC charger takes around six hours to charge the battery from 0 to 100%.
BMW provides a Wallbox charger and installation with every i7, allowing home charging at up to 22 kW. Both models come with a standard two-year warranty, which can be extended up to 10 years. The battery gets a separate warranty of up to eight years or 160,000 km. Two years of 24x7 roadside assistance is also included.
Customers can also choose BMW Service Inclusive, BMW Service Inclusive Plus and Extended Warranty packages. Bookings for both the BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport and i7 M70 xDrive are now open at BMW India dealerships. Deliveries are expected to begin in October 2026.
