Outline

If you have been planning to buy a Hyundai Creta, the situation just changed. Hyundai India quietly rejigged the Creta's variant lineup in early May 2026, pulling out several trims that many buyers were considering. At the same time, prices on the remaining variants have gone up. Interestingly, some dealers are also offering heavy discounts on the variants.

What Hyundai Creta variants have been discontinued

Hyundai Motor India has removed several Hyundai Creta variants at once. One of the biggest changes is the removal of the SX Tech variant, which was a popular choice for buyers who wanted ADAS features without stretching to the top model. The SX(O) has also been discontinued, along with the S Petrol Manual, S Diesel Manual, E Diesel Manual, and the S(O) Knight Edition.

A few Knight special editions have also been dropped, including the Knight Limited 1.5 Petrol CVT, Knight 1.5 Turbo DCT, Knight Limited 1.5 Turbo DCT, and Knight Diesel Automatic. After these changes, the Creta lineup now has seven variants: E, EX, EX(O), S(O), SX, SX Premium, and Knight. The range now feels simpler and more streamlined, with less overlap between trims than before.

How ADAS access has changed for buyers

This is probably the biggest change for safety-focused buyers. Earlier, the SX Tech variant gave buyers access to ADAS features at a more reasonable price. But now that variant is gone, ADAS is available only on the top-spec Hyundai Creta Knight variant.

So if features like autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control matter, buyers will now have to move straight to the top trim. This also increases the starting price for getting ADAS on the Hyundai Creta by quite a bit. Buyers who were earlier considering the SX Tech may now either need to stretch their budget or start looking at other options.

Hyundai Creta revised prices — How much more are you paying

Along with dropping variants, Hyundai has revised prices across the remaining lineup. The hikes are not uniform, some variants have seen modest increases, while others have gone up quite steeply. The Creta now starts at Rs. 10.79 lakh and goes up to Rs. 19.87 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and powertrain.

Heavy discounts point to a possible facelift

Even though prices have increased, many dealers are still offering big discounts on the Hyundai Creta. Depending on the variant and city, benefits on petrol and diesel models can go up to Rs 70,000. Discounts on the Hyundai Creta Electric are even higher in some places, reportedly crossing Rs 1.2 lakh.

Usually, this kind of heavy discounting happens when companies want to clear older stock. Combined with the recent variant reshuffle, it may suggest that Hyundai Motor India is preparing for a bigger update to the Creta lineup. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but the market signals do point towards a possible facelift or feature update arriving sooner than expected.
