Tata Sierra crash test rating by BNCAP announced — Doesn’t disappoint
- 1Tata Sierra scores a full 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult & child safety
- 2Safety rating applies across mid-range trims, not just the tested variants
- 3It achieves 31.14 out of 32 in adult occupant protection, nearly a perfect score
The 2026 Tata Sierra has earned a full 5-star Bharat NCAP crash test rating for both adult and child occupant protection. The tests were conducted on the ACCOMP+ and ADV+ (CRAIL MT) variants. More importantly, this rating applies to the broader mid-range trims, so you’re not limited to those specific versions to get the same level of safety.
Now, let’s break down the Sierra’s crash test results in detail and see where it stands.
Tata Sierra crash test rating by BNCAP — Adult occupant protection

For adult occupant protection, the Tata Sierra puts up a near-perfect score. It gets 31.14 out of 32, which tells you the basics are very well sorted. Break it down, and the consistency stands out. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it scores 15.14 out of 16. That’s a strong result, with only minor deductions.

In the side movable deformable barrier test, it delivers a full 16 out of 16. No compromises there. Put together, these numbers show a structure and restraint system that works exactly as it should when it matters.

Tata Sierra BNCAP child occupant protection rating

The Tata Sierra’s child occupant protection score stands at 44.73 out of 49. That’s a strong result and close to the upper limit. Most of that comes from the dynamic score, where it manages 23.73 out of 24. In simple terms, protection during impact is almost spot on. The CRS installation score is a full 12 out of 12, so fitting child seats isn’t a concern. The vehicle assessment score is 9 out of 13, which is where a few points are left on the table.

Looking at the test details, both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were secured in a Joie i-Spin Safe seat. It’s an i-Size compliant setup with ISOFIX and a support leg, used in a rearward-facing position. For the 18-month-old, the frontal test score is 7.73 out of 8, while the side impact gets a full 4 out of 4. The 3-year-old setup does even better, scoring a full 8 out of 8 in the frontal test and 4 out of 4 in the side impact. Put it all together, and the Sierra handles child occupant safety with a lot of confidence.
