The D-segment SUV space has been seeing some action lately, with the launch of the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line. While these two cars are similarly priced, there are significant differences between the two in terms of features, styling, seating configuration, and more. Tiguan vs Kodiaq design and styling

The new Kodiaq follows Skoda’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language with smoother character lines and a calmer overall flow. The face features split headlamps and Skoda’s iconic octagonal grille, and the rear gets connected lights with ‘SKODA’ lettering in the middle.

The new Tiguan is exclusively available in its top-of-the-line R-Line trim. Key styling elements include connected front and rear lights, a fairly large front grille, R-inspired 19-inch alloy, and lots of R-badges throughout the exterior.

Kodiaq vs Tiguan variants

Skoda offers the Kodiaq in a choice of two variants — Sportline and L&K — with the former carrying a more sportier vibe while the latter being more focused towards luxury. On the contrary, Volkswagen offers a single trim for the Tiguan, which is the maxed-out R-Line variant.

The Kodiaq gets a multi-layered dashboard design with a good dosage of leather. Key Skoda Kodiaq features include a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch digital driver’s display, three rotary dials, one of which is customisable, multi-zone climate control, heated, ventilated, and massage seats, nine airbags, driver drowsiness monitor, parking assist, a Canton sound system, and more. The Skoda Kodiaq Sportline gets sports seats, while the Skoda Kodiaq L&K gets ‘Ergo’ seats.

The Tiguan gets a relatively simpler dashboard layout with pixels spread on various panels. Key Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line features include a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, head-up display, three-zone climate control, multi-colour ambient lighting, a Level-2 ADAS suite, and more.
