Driving Test Procedure in Hyderabad

Akin to every town in India, the driving licence test in Hyderabad is conducted as per the Motor Vehicle Act 1988. The test takes place under the supervision of a Motor Vehicle Inspector from the RTO, who acts as an invigilator and passes or fails an applicant based on his performance in the test. Also, the applicant is required to have his own vehicle for the test, with it being mandatory for the vehicle to be of the same class for which a DL is required. The motor vehicle of the driving school can be used in case one doesn’t possess the required vehicle.

Test for Two-Wheeler & Three-Wheeler:

For the driving licence test of a 2-wheeler and a 3-wheeler, the applicant is asked to ride the vehicle inside a boundary and ride on an imaginary pattern of figure 8 without coming in contact with the boundary. Once the invigilator is satisfied, he asks the applicant to ride in real-world conditions, where he is judged on the basis of how well he can control the vehicle on public roads.

Test for Four Wheeler

In essence, the driving test for a 4-wheeler is the same in principle as that for a 2-wheeler and a 3-wheeler. In this case, the applicant has to first drive on a specially designed test track where he needs to make sure he doesn’t hit any of the columns placed on the perimeter. Once the invigilator is satisfied, he asks the applicant to drive on public roads, where it’s judged how comfortable the applicant is in real-world driving. If someone fails the DL test for a 2-, 3- or 4-wheeler, he or she can apply for a re-test after a gap of 7 days. One has to pay a nominal fee for the re-test.
