Driving Test Procedure in Kota

The driving licence test procedure in Kota, like everywhere else across the country, is defined by the Motor Vehicle Act 1988. It is invigilated by a Motor Vehicle Inspector from the relevant RTO, who fails or passes a candidate based on his performance. All the applicants are needed to use their own vehicle, which should be of the same category for which a DL is required. However, one can use the motor vehicle of a motor driving school if he can’t arrange the required vehicle from elsewhere.

Test for Two-Wheeler & Three-Wheeler

The applicant for a driving licence of a two or a three-wheeler needs to ride his or her vehicle inside a boundary and ride it in a way so as to make imaginary patterns of 8 without stalling the vehicle. Next, the applicant has to ride the vehicle on a nearby public road.

Test for Four Wheeler

The applicant for a driving licence of a four-wheeler is first asked to drive his vehicle on a test track without touching any of the columns placed on the boundary even once. Next, the applicant has to drive on a public road so that the invigilator can judge him based on his performance in real-world conditions.

On failing the DL test for any of the categories, the applicant can give a re-test after a gap of 7 days and on payment of a nominal fee.
