Renault Duster Turbo

Expected Launch 5 September, 2020
Engine 1.3L Turbo-Petrol
Transmission 6-Speed Manual, CVT

When it comes to Renault cars, the Duster has been one of the biggest selling cars from Renault as well as one of the most common pre-owned cars in the country. Now, the company is about to introduce the Duster Turbo which will go up against some of the major C-segment SUVs in the market already, including the Nissan Kicks, the Hyundai Creta, and the Kia Seltos. Powering the new Duster Turbo will be a BSVI-compliant 1.3L Turbo-petrol engine that is capable of generating 156Ps of power and 254Nm of torque. The engine will either be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. According to some reports, the Duster Turbo will offer a mileage of 16 Kmpl which is considered similar to the competition around it. In terms of looks, Renault has not verified anything about the Duster Turbo but with leaks floating around, we can expect a few changes to the body as well as the interior. The previous Duster had a lot of people preparing their RC transfer papers and we can see the same happening when the Duster Turbo is officially launched.

Fiat Cronos

Expected Launch 25 October, 2020
Engine Diesel, Petrol
Transmission Manual, Automatic

Back in 2017, Fiat replaced the Punto with the new Argo hatchback but was only targeted to the Brazilian market. Fast-forward to 2020 and Fiat are gearing up to launch the would-be replacement of the Linea and they care calling it the Cronos. While Fiat initially only gave us a peek of the exterior of the car at first, they have now released some interior images before the car is launched in South America. Through the images, we can clearly see that the Cronos is designed almost exactly like the Argo with a few visible changes. The dashboard on the Cronos is far more refined than the Argo’s and is now missing the contrasting red or silver band that ran across the Argo. Apart from that, we don’t know much about the Cronos including the engine options. While we can expect Fiat to launch the Cronos in India sometime in the future, we have not heard any official announcement from the company, yet. Given the fact that Fiat is a company that has been doing quite well in India, we have no reason to believe that the sedan will not make it to Indian shores.

Powering the Gravitas will be an upgraded BSVI-compliant 2.0L diesel engine that is capable of producing 170Ps of power and 350Nm of torque. There is also talk about Tata releasing a 1.6L petrol engine for the Gravitas which will be included in the coming months. In the transmission department, the Gravitas is expected to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard or can also be had with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Some of the other features of the Gravitas include an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 9-speaker audio system, and automatic air conditioning.

There is also talk of a 1.8L hybrid-petrol variant that is found on the Civic, but it will only be available in certain regions. In terms of the interiors and features, the HR-V is said to house LED headlights, a 7-inch infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, and adjustable power seats. The sedan is based on the Le Fil Rouge concept which was first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2018 and in 2020 at the Auto Expo. There is a distinct difference to the look of the new Elantra as the front grille now has a cascading effect while the Hyundai insignia now takes its place on the bonnet rather than the grille. The roofline now slopes like on a coupe and the sharp lines on the side give the sedan a beautifully aggressive look. Completing the look, the rear of the sedan also features sleek and stylish taillights with an LED strip stretching across the entire rear. Hyundai has not skimped out on the features as well with Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, BOSE audio system, wireless charging, voice commands, and NFC-enabled digital car keys. Given that Skoda and Volkswagen are teaming up to introduce CNG variants of their popular cars, Skoda could also introduce a CNG variant of the Rapid 2021 in the future.
