Currently in India, the fourth-generation Lexus LX is on sale. Alongside the Toyota Land Cruiser recall, SIAM has also issued a recall for the Lexus LX due to a potential defect involving the 10-speed automatic transmission, which uses linear solenoids to manage gear shifts. A total of 117 units have been recalled in India, specifically from the latest fourth-generation batch.

In the section on lexus LX Recall in india, we break down what the issue is, why it matters, and what owners should do next.

Lexus LX recall in India — The issue behind the safety concern

The concern here is not the engine itself but the transmission that works alongside it. The new-generation Lexus LX uses a 10-speed automatic gearbox that relies on linear solenoids to manage gear shifts precisely. If one of these solenoids fails under certain driving conditions, the system may not properly flag the fault to the transmission control unit or the engine ECU.

When that communication gap happens, the transmission can over-rev in certain gears. Over time, this may put excessive strain on internal components, potentially damaging the gearbox. In higher-speed situations, it could also lead to a temporary loss of motive power, which is where the safety concern becomes more serious.

In extreme cases, if the transmission housing is compromised, transmission fluid could leak from the unit. In simple terms, it's a software and component coordination problem within a highly advanced gearbox not a fundamental powertrain failure.

The new Lexus LX is powered by a 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing 308 PS and 700 Nm of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The fourth-generation Lexus LX was launched on March 6, 2025. The affected units were manufactured between the date of launch and 29 September 2025. Unlike the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 recall, which involved a much larger batch of vehicles, this case is more limited in both timeline and scale. The production window is shorter and the total number of affected vehicles stands at 117 units.

How can owners check if their Lexus LX is affected?

Lexus LX owners can visit their nearest Lexus dealership to have their vehicle checked, especially if it was manufactured within the affected timeline. For added convenience, owners can also go to the Toyota recall page. There, scroll to the “Vehicle Recall Check” section, enter the license plate and country (IN), or input the VIN directly. If the vehicle is affected, the system will provide the result. If your vehicle is flagged as affected, the dealership will update the transmission and engine control modules at no cost.
