Outline

Kia India has confirmed that prices across its entire range of vehicles will increase by up to 2% from 1 July 2026. The carmaker made the announcement on 18 June 2026, citing "rising input costs and an overall increase in operational expenditure" as the primary drivers behind the decision.

The company was clear that while the hike will apply across all models, the exact quantum of the increase will vary depending on the specific model and variant. Kia also stated that it has "endeavoured to keep the price increase to a minimum" by absorbing a large part of the cost escalation itself. A move it says is part of its commitment to offering "best-in-class products and ownership experience."

Which Kia models are affected?

Kia Sonet

All nine Kia models currently available in India fall under this price revision. Here is a look at the current price range for each model as of June 2026:

Kia ModelCurrent Price Range (Ex-showroom)
SonetRs 7.33 lakh – Rs 14.18 lakh
SyrosRs 8.42 lakh – Rs 15.82 lakh
SeltosRs 11.00 lakh – Rs 20.00 lakh
CarensRs 11.02 lakh – Rs 12.88 lakh
Carens ClavisRs 11.22 lakh – Rs 21.58 lakh
Carens Clavis EVRs 18.01 lakh – Rs 25.00 lakh
CarnivalRs 59.45 lakh
EV6Rs 66.00 lakh
EV9Rs 1.30 crore

A 2% hike on a model like the Seltos could mean an increase of up to Rs 40,000 at the top end, while on the EV9, the increase at 2% works out to a significant Rs 2.6 lakh. Even on an entry-level Sonet, buyers could be looking at roughly Rs 7,000–15,000 more depending on the variant.

Why is Kia raising prices?

Kia Clavis

Like most other carmakers making announcements around the same time, Kia has pointed to two main factors: rising input costs, covering raw materials, components, and parts and an overall increase in operational expenditure. The cost of inputs such as steel, rubber, and electronics has remained elevated throughout much of 2025-26, and the cumulative impact has now necessitated a price revision.

Kia added that it has worked to keep customer-facing increases to a minimum by internalising as much of the cost pressure as possible. However, partial passthrough through a price revision has become unavoidable.

Kia is not alone in this move. A string of automakers has announced price revisions for July 2026, including Tata Motors (up to 1.5%), Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki (up to Rs 30,000), BMW India, and JSW MG Motor India (up to 3%).

What Kia has in the pipeline

Alongside the price announcement, it is worth noting that Kia India has several products in the works for 2026 and 2027. The Syros EV, the brand's second EV and first electric SUV in India, is expected to launch around August 2026. A next-generation Kia Sonet has also been spotted testing, though it is not expected imminently. Kia is also reportedly planning to introduce the Sorento Hybrid for the Indian market, with local manufacturing in consideration, a first for the brand in the hybrid space.
