Outline

JSW MG Motor India has officially announced that prices across its entire vehicle range will go up by as much as 3% starting 1 July 2026. The announcement, made in June 2026, affects both the brand's ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) lineup and its electric vehicle portfolio. The revised pricing will apply across all dealerships nationwide from the effective date.

The carmaker has not shared a model-by-model breakdown of the increases at this stage. What is confirmed is that no vehicle in the lineup will see a hike exceeding 3% and the exact increase will vary depending on the model and variant selected. Buyers can expect dealerships to circulate updated price lists closer to the rollout date.

Which MG models are getting costlier?

MG Astor

The price revision covers every vehicle that MG currently sells in India. That includes a varied mix of ICE and electric offerings:

  • MG Astor — currently starting at Rs 9.79 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • MG Hector — currently starting at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • MG Hector Plus — the three-row version of the Hector
  • MG Majestor — the brand's flagship MPV, currently priced from Rs 40.99 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • MG Comet EV — the most affordable car in MG's lineup at Rs 6.31 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • MG Windsor EV — MG's popular electric crossover, starting from Rs 12.04 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • MG Cyberster — the brand's electric sports roadster, priced at Rs 77.49 Lakh (ex-showroom)
  • MG M9 — the premium electric MPV, priced at Rs 75.90 Lakh (ex-showroom)

All of these will see revised ex-showroom prices from 1 July, though exact increases will differ across variants and models.

Why is MG raising prices?

The stated reason is the same one most carmakers cite during price revisions: rising input and operational costs. Raw material prices, including steel, aluminium, and semiconductors, have continued to climb across global supply chains in 2026. Transportation and logistics costs have also remained elevated, and automakers have been managing these pressures while trying to hold prices competitive.

MG, like many of its peers, appears to have reached a point where absorbing further cost increases without revision is no longer viable. The hike of up to 3% is seen as a way to partially recover these margins.

How many times has MG raised prices in 2026?

MG Comet

This will be MG's third price increase in 2026. The company had previously raised prices by up to 2% from January 2026 and another 2% from April 2026, with that second round excluding the MG Select portfolio (the Cyberster and the M9). The July revision, however, applies to the full lineup without exception.

Three rounds of price hikes in a single calendar year show just how persistent the cost pressures have been across the automotive industry this year.

Part of a wider industry trend

MG is far from the only carmaker raising prices this July. BMW India, Mercedes-Benz India, and Kia India have all announced similar revisions taking effect from 1 July 2026. This pattern is consistent with what industry watchers have been noting throughout 2026. Automakers across segments and price brackets are revising prices more frequently than in a typical year, driven by the same broad cost environment.

For prospective buyers across brands, this makes the last few days of June 2026 an important window to finalise purchases at current prices before the new rates kick in.
