Outline

Maruti Suzuki has officially confirmed that it will increase prices across its entire car lineup from June 2026. The hike, which was announced through a formal corporate filing, will see prices go up by a maximum of Rs 30,000 depending on the model. This marks the first official price increase by Maruti in 2026 and comes after months of the automaker absorbing rising input costs without passing them on to customers.

Why Maruti Suzuki is raising prices

Maruti Suzuki has been facing rising input and production costs for the past few months due to higher raw material and component prices. Until now, the company had been trying to absorb most of these increases through internal cost-cutting and efficiency measures, but that has become difficult to continue.

In its announcement, Maruti stated that the mounting cost environment made it necessary to pass on a portion of the increase to customers, while keeping the impact as minimal as possible. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki, had earlier noted that the company was extending its strategic pricing approach to support first-time buyers, but that buffer can only last so long.

Interestingly, Maruti had considered a price hike earlier in January 2026 as well, but decided against it at the time to maintain affordability and support strong small car sales. The latest decision suggests the cost pressure has now become too high to absorb further.

Which models will be affected?

While Maruti has not shared a model-by-model breakdown of the increases, the announcement confirms that all models in the lineup will see some form of price revision. Reports indicate that popular models like the Swift, WagonR, Baleno, and Dzire are among those likely to see increases, though the exact amounts per model will only be clear once the revised price list is published.

The increase will not be uniform. Some models may see a small adjustment while others could see the full Rs 30,000 increase, depending on the current pricing structure and segment positioning of each vehicle.

Broader context for buyers

The timing of this price hike is important for two reasons. First, it comes at a time when fuel prices in India have already increased sharply, with petrol and diesel prices going up by up to Rs 4 per litre recently. CNG prices have also risen. For buyers already facing higher running costs, a car price increase adds extra pressure on the budget.

Second, Maruti had reduced prices on several models in late 2025 after revised GST norms on small cars. That move had made many entry-level and mid-range models more affordable. With the upcoming hike from June 1, some of that benefit now starts reducing again. For buyers planning to purchase a Maruti Suzuki car, buying before June could help avoid the latest price increase.
