The Motor
Vehicles Act of 1988 made it mandatory for any person who wishes to drive a
vehicle in India to first hold a valid permanent driving licence. Earlier,
people could simply apply for a driving licence and after giving the test, they
could acquire it. Today, it is a bit different as people must first apply and
obtain a learner’s licence before they can move on to a driving licence. In Mizoram,
there are 2 ways to apply for a learner’s licence which makes it easier for
everyone. There is an online method as well as an offline method. Both
procedures require the applicants to fill in forms and attach documents for
submission. There is also an application fee that must be paid before they can
give the learner’s licence test. Only if the test is cleared will the RTO issue
the licence to the applicant.
Both the online and offline methods for learner’s
licence application in Mizoram are quick, efficient, and user-friendly. Here is
a closer look at the online and offline application processes for a learner’s
licence in Mizoram:

and what are the documents required for a successful submission. After the
forms are filled in correctly, the applicant must scan and attach the documents
listed in the forms. Then, the application fee must be paid through the online
banking portal. Finally, the applicant must select a date and time to appear
for the learner’s licence test at the RTO closest to the registered address. On
the chosen date, the applicant must visit the RTO and give the test. If the
