Outline

Hyundai Motor India has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model for the Creta Electric. Under this ownership model, the electric SUV is now available at a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the battery cost is paid separately through a per-kilometre subscription.

For the 42 kWh battery pack, the subscription starts at Rs 3.9 per km. Separating the battery cost brings down the initial purchase price, making the Creta Electric more affordable for those considering an EV.

Under the BaaS model, the Rs 10.99 lakh price is only for the Creta Electric, while the battery is paid for separately through a per-kilometre subscription. For the 42 kWh battery pack, the charge starts at Rs 3.9 per km.

This rate is based on financing 90% of the battery cost at an interest rate of 8.75% over eight years. Hyundai says the calculation assumes an average monthly driving distance of 2,330 km, based on usage data from its highest-mileage markets. Instead of paying the full battery cost upfront, owners pay for it as they use the car. This lowers the initial purchase price and spreads the battery cost over time.

What else has changed in the Hyundai Creta Electric with this update

Along with the new BaaS model, Hyundai has also updated the Creta Electric with a few new additions. The SUV now gets an integrated side foot step, making it easier to get in and out.  Hyundai has also started offering a 7.4 kW wall box charger with the Home Charger variants. Compared to a standard 3.3 kW charger, the 7.4 kW unit can charge the battery much faster, making home charging more convenient.

Hyundai is also expanding its EV charging network across India and plans to install nearly 600 fast-charging stations over the next four years. Through the MyHyundai app, users can locate over 28,000 charging points across the country.
