One of the most awaited launches from Kia India's stable has finally happened. The New Kia Sorento has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. It targets India's scarce segment of premium three-row SUVs, going against the well-established rivals including the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron, and MG Gloster. The seat configuration is diverse, with 6- and 7-seater options.
2026 Kia Sorento exterior
The new Sorento is built on the Kia Opposite United design philosophy. It comes with Kia's signature digital tiger face, vertically stacked crystal cube LED projection headlamps, and a sculpted hood at the front. At the rear, it comes with deliberately smooth lines, a slightly muscular roofline presence, and roof rails. At the rear, there is an integrated rear spoiler with a lighting strip below and a cleverly hidden wiper, and vertically positioned LED taillamps. It runs on 19-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels.
Kia Sorento colour options — In and out
The all-new Kia Sorento comes in 8 exterior paint job options — Magma Red, Ivory Silver, Dark Gun Metal, Pewter Olive, Aurora Black Pearl, Imperial Blue, Glacier White Pearl, and Gravity Gray. However, for a more exclusive shade, Sorento is also available in the Black-Line package with Aurora Black Pearl exterior. It comes with an all-black finish on the body from hood to alloy wheels.
Meanwhile, the New Sorento cabin comes in two dual-tone theme options — Smoky black with Gray and Premium Black with Olive Brown
2026 Kia Sorento dimensions
In its segment, the new Kia Sorento's dimensions are also interesting to notice. It measures 8.4 meters in length, 2.8 meters in wheelbase and 1.9 meters in width, which are the longest and widest in its battle ring. It stands dashingly at a height of 1.78 meters.

Kia has targeted the Sorento in India first, 1st or best in segment with Navigation-based smart cruise control, Kia's AI assistant with real-time Gen AI capabilities, 10-way power front seats with lumbar adjustment, ergo motion function in driver seat, head-up display, second-row, digital key 2.0, remote smart parking assist, advanced digital IRVM, ventilated seats, smart dashcam with front and rear camera, 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, personalised display theme across the cluster and infotaiment screens, 10 airbags, and ADAS Level 2+ with 30 autonomous features onboard.
A little digging into Kia's AI assistant with real-time Gen AI capabilities, the India-spec Sorento is the first globally to receive this tech. It can chat with you and give real-time updates. Kia AI Assistant is intelligence by Perplexity and voice ai powered by SoundHound AI.
Other highlight features include the panoramic curved 12.3-inch HD touchScreen navigation cockpit and a 12.3-inch HD instrument cluster, dial-type shift-by-wire selector, front ventilated seats, second-row captain seats, wing-type headrests, remote folding and walk-in, smart power tailgate with anti-pinch function, acoustic windshield, multiple-zone automatic climate control, wireless charger, over-the-air software updates, 220-volt power outlet with 3-pin socket (hybrid), among others.
On the safety front, the Sorento gets 26 standard safety features across all trims, including a Highline Tyre Pressure Monitor, ABS, BAS, ESC, VSM, Hill-start Assist Control, ISOFIX, all-wheel disc brakes, rear parking sensors, speed-sensing auto door locks, impact-sensing auto door unlock, and more.
Kia Sorento hybrid & diesel specs
Under the hood, Kia has not omitted the option of diesel. It comes in both hybrid and diesel engine options. The former comes with a 1.6L turbo GDi Hybrid engine, producing 180PS and 265Nm. It comes with 65PS of electric motor power and 256Nm of torque. Transmission is handled by a 6-speed automatic unit. The SUV also marked another segment benchmarK of being the first to have a hybrid with AWD.
The latter uses a 2.2L SmartStream engine churning out 193PS and 442Nm. It comes paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Sorento comes with four drive modes — Normal (diesel only), ECO, Sport, and Smart. In the AWD system, it has the terrain modes of Snow, Mud, and Sand.

The Kia Sorento starts at Rs 27.99 lakh for the 7-seater HTE diesel variant. The 6-seater version starts from the HTK trim at Rs 32.69 lakh. The Sorento is offered with both diesel and hybrid powertrains. The diesel version uses a 2.2-litre engine with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while the hybrid gets a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Prices go up to Rs 40.39 lakh for the 6-seater hybrid HTX(A) Black Line AWD variant. The Black Line versions carry a small premium over the standard variants.
