Mercedes-Maybach S 580e launched — 585hp, 100km electric range, only 30 units for India

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e, the brand's first electrified Mercedes-Maybach model in India. Priced at Rs 3.35 crore, ex-showroom, the plug-in hybrid flagship limousine will be sold in a limited run of just 30 units at launch. This makes it one of the most exclusive electrified cars available in the country.

Mercedes-Maybach S 580e design details

The Mercedes-Maybach S 580e gets several signature Maybach design elements, including an illuminated radiator grille and a Maybach logo projection that lights up the ground when the car is approached. The front and rear door sills also feature illuminated Maybach lettering. Even the key gets a special finish, with a high-gloss white surface and rose-gold detailing.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 580e gets a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system and 4Matic all-wheel drive. The petrol engine produces 443hp and 560Nm, while the electric motor adds 160hp and 480Nm. The combined system output stands at 585hp and 750Nm.

Power is sent to all four wheels through a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic gearbox. Mercedes-Benz claims a 0- 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.8 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. Mercedes-Benz claims a WLTP-certified weighted combined fuel efficiency of 34.48 kmpl for the S 580e.

Mercedes-Maybach S 580e electric range and charging

The new Maybach S 580e uses a 22kWh usable battery pack, which provides a WLTP-certified electric range of around 98km. Mercedes-Benz says the car can deliver around 100km in real-world driving with the help of its energy recuperation system.

The car can travel in pure-electric mode at speeds of up to 140 km/h. It gets dedicated Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold drive modes, along with adjustable regenerative braking and one-pedal driving.

For charging, the S 580e supports up to 11kW AC charging and up to 60kW DC fast charging. Mercedes-Benz will also provide a complimentary home charging solution with every car, along with access to the MB.CHARGE public charging network. An Acoustic Presence Indicator produces a subtle exterior sound at low speeds when the car is running in electric mode. This helps alert pedestrians to the otherwise quiet vehicle.

Mercedes-Maybach S 580e cabin and comfort

The India-spec Mercedes-Maybach S 580e is available only with a four-seat First-Class rear cabin. It gets individual Executive rear seats, a full-length Business Centre Console, wireless charging and temperature-controlled cup holders.

The Rear Comfort Package Plus adds features such as adaptive ambient lighting, climatised seats, rear wireless charging and rear MBUX controls. The cabin gets a Burmester High-End 4D Surround Sound System with 31 speakers, eight exciters and 1,610 watts of output. It supports Dolby Atmos, sound personalisation and wireless headphones for rear-seat entertainment.

The interior is finished in MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather with a Crystal White and Silver Grey Pearl colour combination. It also gets piano lacquer trim and a handcrafted Nappa leather roof liner.

The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S 580e runs on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) and gets the brand's MBUX Superscreen. This includes a front-passenger display with a privacy function and a 3D driver display.

Other features include augmented reality navigation and a head-up display. The car also gets cloud-based AIRMATIC air suspension, which uses real-time navigation data to predict road conditions and adjust the damping accordingly. Standard rear-axle steering can turn by up to 10 degrees. This helps reduce the car's turning circle and improves stability at higher speeds.

Mercedes-Maybach S 580e safety features include the PRE-SAFE system with 15 airbags, including a centre airbag, rear side airbags, a rear tubular front protection airbag and a belt bag. PRE-SAFE Impulse and PRE-SAFE Impulse Side prepare the occupants for a possible collision. 

The car also gets GUARD 360-degree Vehicle Protection Plus, which provides theft prevention and intrusion detection. Other standard features include DIGITAL LIGHT with Adaptive High Beam Assist Plus and MB.DRIVE ASSIST with Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Steering Assist for lane guidance.
