Skoda has launched the Kodiaq RS in India at Rs 66.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the performance-focused version of the brand's flagship seven-seat SUV and sits above the Laurin & Klement variant (L&K). The Kodiaq RS is brought to India as a completely built unit (CBU), with no local assembly. The Kodiaq RS has already found plenty of takers, with the first batch of 50 units reportedly sold out ahead of the launch.
New Skoda Kodiaq RS engine and performance

Powering the Kodiaq RS is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 261 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system. Skoda claims the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 231 kmph.
To match the extra performance, the Kodiaq RS also gets Dynamic Chassis Control Plus (DCC+) with adaptive suspension, allowing the driver to adjust the damping based on driving conditions. Progressive steering is also offered as standard for quicker and more precise handling.

RS-specific exterior design
The Kodiaq RS gets several design changes that set it apart from the standard Kodiaq. It features a gloss black grille, black window trim, mirror caps, roof rails, and D-pillar, along with RS badges on the grille and tailgate. The front bumper has been redesigned with larger air intakes, while the rear gets a black diffuser and twin chrome exhaust tips.

It rides on 20-inch Elias alloy wheels with red brake calipers, adding to its sporty look. The Kodiaq RS is available in four colour options: Moon White, Magic Black, Velvet Red, and Steel Grey.

The Kodiaq RS gets an all-black interior with red contrast stitching and a flat-bottom three-spoke sports steering wheel with paddle shifters. It comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV also gets a 13-speaker Canton sound system with a subwoofer.
The front sports seats are electrically adjustable and come with ventilation, heating, memory function, and extendable thigh support. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, wireless charging for two phones, four 45W USB-C ports, a powered tailgate with Virtual Pedal, KESSY Advanced keyless entry, and a 360-degree camera with Intelligent Park Assist.

On the safety front, the Kodiaq RS comes with nine airbags, including a centre airbag. It is also available with three rows of seating, offering 281 litres of boot space with all seats up, 786 litres with the third row folded, and up to 1,976 litres with both the second and third rows folded. Skoda also includes its signature Simply Clever features, such as an umbrella holder, door edge protectors, tablet holders, a display cleaner, and bag hooks in the boot.

Skoda Kodiaq RS Safety systems
The Kodiaq RS carries a comprehensive list of active safety systems beyond the 9 airbags. This includes Electronic Stability Control, ABS, EBD, Traction Control, Electronic Differential Lock, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, Multi-Collision Brake, Cross Differential System (XDS+), and Rain Brake Support. ADAS features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist with braking, Lane Assist, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, and Exit Warning.
Positioning and competition
At Rs 66.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kodiaq RS competes in the premium performance SUV space against cars like the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, the BMW X1 xDrive 20i, and the Jeep Meridian. It is significantly priced above the standard Kodiaq L&K.
