South Korean carmaker, Kia, has been among the more popular carmakers in the Indian market, with an increasing demand for their models like the Seltos and the Sonet. Thereby, it is no surprise that Kia has been doing really well compared to most other carmakers in the nation.
The currently available Seltos, Sonet, Carens, and Carnival are perfect examples of how easy it is for Kia to leave a lasting impression on the car buying lot. But what can we expect in the coming months? Let’s take a look at the upcoming Kia cars in India in 2023.
The Seltos is Kia’s best-selling car, which quickly led to the company announcing that they would soon launch the facelifted Seltos 2023 in India. A little is expected to change from the currently available Seltos, and the 2023 variant will still come as a 5-seater.
Under the hood, the Seltos 2023 is expected to house the same engine options that are found in the current variant. There will be a 1.5L petrol engine that will produce 115Ps of power and 144Nm of torque, a 1.4L Turbocharged-petrol unit that will generate 140Ps of power and 242Nm of torque, and a 1.5L diesel engine that will produce 115Ps of power and 250Nm of torque. In the transmission department, the Seltos 2023 will come with a 6-speed manual as standard, while the 1.4L Turbo-petrol engine will get a 7-speed DCT. The 1.5L petrol engine will be paired to a CVT gearbox, whereas the 1.5L diesel will get a 6-speed torque converter gearbox.
Lastly, the 1.5L petrol engine will also get an option of a 6-speed iMT or a Clutchless Manual gearbox.

Just like the Kia Seltos, even the Sonet is headed for a revamp. This means that a comprehensively updated version, on the likes of the latest Hyundai Venue, is on the cards. Hence, it would be safe to assume that India’s most affordable Kia car would receive changes to its styling package along with new features. The sub-compact SUV will have a new styling language, resulting in a more sophisticated front end. At the rear, we expect connected taillamps much like those on the Hyundai Venue. Inside, the sub-compact SUV will continue to offer a gamut of features, thereby being one of the most feature-laden cars available in its category.

We have already discussed the popularity of Kia’s already available SUVs in the country. Still, there could be much more to love about the South Korean manufacturer in the coming months.
Dubbed the Carnival 2023, Kia has kept the MPV under wraps and everything about it a secret. However, some details have been leaked, and we can expect the Carnival 2023 to come in 7, 9, and 11-seater variants. The new Carnival is expected to get some new SUV-Esque details with sharper lines and modern looks. In other design looks, the Carnival 2023 is expected to come with new LED DRLs, headlamps, and taillights. When it comes to engine options, there is no news about the Carnival 2023, but we can expect it to be powered by both petrol and diesel engines. In all likelihood, these will be shared with the Sportage.

While the upcoming Sportage is in its fourth generation from Kia, the model is yet to make its way to India. Fortunately, though, we believe that the latest model will make its way over given the fact that the SUV segment is truly flourishing in the country. Also, the KIA Seltos has been doing exceptionally well in India and is growing in popularity every day. This might push KIA to launch the Sportage in the country as well. While there isn’t a lot of information about the Sportage right now, we expect the SUV to be similar to what is offered on the Hyundai Tucson and will immediately compete with the likes of the Tucson, Mahindra XUV500, and the Jeep Compass.
Like the Tucson, we can expect the Sportage to come with a 2.0L petrol engine that generates 155Ps of power and 192Nm of torque. There is also a 2.0L diesel engine that produces 185Ps of power and 400Nm of torque. Both engines will most likely be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard, with the option for upgrading to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
