Tata is one of India’s biggest brand names with products ranging from tea to military vehicles, and everything in between. Their automobile segment, Tata Motors, was founded in 1945 and is the 5th most popular manufacturer in the country today. Tata has a lot to offer, with the company incorporating the latest technology and safety features into their cars. They also sell cars at reasonably affordable prices when compared to the competition which gives them an added advantage. Here are some of the upcoming Tata cars that have caught the eye of the public already and could very soon be hitting Indian roads.

Taking on big names like the Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz, and Toyota Glanza, the Tata Altroz is ready for its competitors – or so it seems. The car is expected to house a 1.2L turbo-petrol engine that comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. It is also rumoured that the Altroz will feature a 1.2L naturally aspirated engine which is often used in sports cars. The diesel variant will come with a 1.5L engine and will have both manual transmissions as well as AMT. From what was seen in the Geneva unveiling, the Altroz’s interiors will feature a 7-inch infotainment system, automatic climate control, an analogue-digital dashboard, rear air-conditioning vents, and could be one of the most used cars in the country in 2020.
|Expected Launch||October 16, 2019|
|Engine||2.0 L Diesel, 1.6L Petrol|
|Transmission||6-Speed Manual, 6 Speed Automatic|
The Tata Buzzard, also known as the 7-seater Tata Harrier, is an SUV that was first displayed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. In terms of looks, the Buzzard is set to look almost identical to the Harrier with just a few tweaks on the outside. Inside, however, is a very different story as the Buzzard comes fitted with an added row of seats (3 in total). There are also faux wood panels, individual blower controls, cup holders, and USB ports for the newly added seats. In terms of entertainment, the car comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a decent sound system to back it up. Powering this beast will most likely be a 2.0L diesel engine, although, it does seem like there could also be a 1.6L petrol engine variant in the works.
|Expected Launch||August 15, 2020|
|Power||16.2 kWh Lithium-Ion Battery|
While many people are still looking for ways to clean up the Earth and its environment, Tata is already taking massive steps in the right direction with the expected launch of the Tiago EV. Electric cars are soon going to be a huge part of our future and the Tiago EV seems like a great way to get there. Powering this car is a massive 16.2 kWh Lithium-Ion battery that offers an impressive 140 kms mileage on a single charge. Charging the battery to 100% takes about 6-8 hours while there is also fast charge capabilities that reduce that time to just 1.5 hours. Given all the expectations, it might be time for people to try out a used car evaluation tool and prepare themselves for what the future brings.
|Expected Launch||March, 2020|
Tata unveiled the H2X at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and gave us a glimpse of what we could expect in the coming years. Following the impressive Impact 2.0 design module, the H2X stands out in almost all factors – looks especially. A floating roofline along with the Humanity Line make up for some of the car’s features while a striking grille, hood, and side panels ensure that the H2X will be a head-turner. In terms of the car’s size, it seems as though the micro SUV will fit in somewhere between the KUV, Ignis, and Nexon. According to some reports, the H2X will come with the majority of Tata Tiago parts, including the 1.2L petrol and 1.05L diesel engines.
|Expected Launch||December, 2020|
Based on Tata’s OMEGA architecture, the EVision Electric is a concept car that, as the name suggests, runs on electricity. It is the first sedan that was announced under the Impact 2.0 design structure. Based on what was discussed, the EVision will feature one electric motor on each axle as well as a battery pack that is fitted into the floor. This design feature not only creates more space in the car, but keeps the center of gravity low to the ground for superior control. It is estimated that the car, on a single charge, will run for up to 350-420 Kms which is far better than any EV available today. The top speed of the EVision is said to be set at around 200 Kmph which should be enough to take on most sedans in the segment.
The future of Tata looks extremely promising, especially when it comes to their latest automobiles. With technologically advanced vehicles already in the pipeline, it seems like Tata is all set to take on their competitors and deliver. So, will you be ready to prepare your RC transfer papers for any one of the above mentioned cars?
