Outline

Nissan has a firm date on the calendar and the test mules are still moving. The Nissan Tekton has been spotted testing again, just weeks before its confirmed 9 July 2026 India debut. At this stage, the camouflage is heavy and covers most of the body, but the sightings are adding detail to the picture with every outing.

What the Nissan Tekton test mule exterior reveals

The disguised Tekton has a boxy and upright silhouette that is distinct from the flowing design of the Renault Duster it shares a platform with. The front fascia is tall and squared, with C-pillar-mounted rear door handles visible along the side. The wheel arches feature hex-styled cladding and the car sits on large wheels. A roof-mounted spoiler is prominent at the rear, paired with a raked windshield and a chunky rear bumper. The C-shaped tail lamps in a connected format are also identifiable despite the wrap.

Earlier spy shots and teaser material from Nissan have revealed more. The Tekton gets top-mounted LED DRLs and a full-width LED light bar at the front. Teaser images have shown bold TEKTON lettering printed on the bonnet. The front grille is large and flanked by two full-width chrome strips that meet at the Nissan badge in the centre. Prominent C-shaped inserts are used on both sides of the front bumper. The overall styling draws clear inspiration from the Patrol, Nissan's flagship SUV.

Nissan Tekton interior — What to expect inside?

The interior is expected to be distinct in theme from the Renault Duster even though both cars share the same CMF-B platform. A dual-screen setup is expected at the top end, along with Qi 2 wireless magnetic charging, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, automatic dual-zone climate control, an air quality display, and wireless smartphone connectivity. Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree surround camera system are also in the expected features list.

Nissan Tekton engine options

Nissan is expected to offer the Tekton with three powertrain choices borrowed from the new Renault Duster. The base engine is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol producing 100PS and 160Nm, paired with a manual gearbox. The mid-range option is a 1.3-litre turbo petrol (TCe 160) rated at 163PS and 280Nm, available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT. A 1.8-litre strong hybrid setup, the E-Tech 160, is also expected but is not anticipated at launch, with Nissan planning to introduce it as a follow-up.

Segment and pricing

Nissan Tekton

The Nissan Tekton steps into one of the most intensely contested spaces in India's car market, the 4.2 to 4.5 metre mid-size SUV segment. Rivals include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Honda Elevate.

The base variant is expected to start around Rs 10 to 11 lakh, with the range extending up to approximately Rs 18 lakh for top-spec variants. Nissan's aim with the Tekton is a meaningful re-entry into the mid-size SUV segment after years of limited presence. The brand launched the Gravite MPV earlier this year in February, and the Tekton is the bigger bet to follow.
