May 2026 marked a new chapter for Tata Motors on the electric vehicle front. The company sold 59,790 passenger vehicles during the month, a 42% increase over the 42,040 units it posted in May 2025. That headline number was strong on its own, but the EV figure was what drew the most attention.
Tata Motors crossed the 10,000-unit monthly EV sales mark for the first time, recording 10,517 units, up 85% over the 5,685 EV units sold in May 2025. These are not incremental steps. Both the overall growth rate and the EV milestone represent a company that has maintained the momentum it built through the second half of FY26.

Tata Motors crosses the 10,000 EV sales mark in May 2026
Tata Motors crossed an important milestone in May 2026, selling 10,517 EVs during the month. According to Vahan data, the company remained the leader in India's electric car market with 10,231 retail registrations, a 102% increase over May 2025. It also marks the first time Tata has crossed the 10,000-unit retail sales mark for EVs in a single month.

The growth comes as demand for electric vehicles continues to rise across the country. Tata's broad EV lineup, which includes the Nexon EV, Punch EV, Tiago EV, Curvv EV and Harrier EV, has helped attract buyers across different price points. The company is also expanding production capacity to keep up with growing demand.
