Outline

Tata Motors is preparing to launch Avinya as a dedicated sub-brand for its flagship electric vehicles. The Avinya range will sit above Tata's current ICE and EV portfolio and will feature its own logo, design language, and EV-focused architecture, developed with inputs from Jaguar Land Rover.

The first model under the Avinya brand is expected to be the Avinya Fastback, followed by an Avinya SUV based on the concept showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. The leaked dashboard patents are believed to belong to the SUV variant, internally known as the P2. Tata is expected to unveil the Avinya brand globally sometime in 2026.

What the upcoming Tata Avinya electric SUV leaked patents show

The leaked patent images offer the clearest look yet at the interior of the upcoming Tata Avinya SUV. The dashboard follows a clean and minimalist design, with what appears to be soft-touch materials and a gently curved layout. A new Avinya logo stretches across the dashboard, helping distinguish the Avinya range from Tata's regular models.

The Tata Avinya also gets a unique steering wheel with touch-based controls and no visible physical buttons. Instead of the Tata logo, the centre of the steering wheel features AVINYA branding. The images further reveal two slim stalks behind the steering wheel, with one likely serving as the gear selector. Behind the steering wheel is a wide digital instrument display, while a large central touchscreen takes care of infotainment and other vehicle functions.

Upcoming Tata Avinya platform, technology, and range

The Tata Avinya range will be based on Tata Motors' Gen 3 EMA (Electric Modular Architecture) platform, which has been developed with inputs from Jaguar Land Rover. Tata is expected to localise the platform for India, helping keep costs in check.

The new platform is likely to support features such as ADAS and ultra-fast charging technology. According to reports, future Avinya models could add up to 500 km of range in under 30 minutes of charging, although Tata has not officially confirmed these figures yet.

Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless phone charger, V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging functions, and the use of sustainable materials inside the cabin. The Avinya concept also featured swivelling front seats, but it is not yet clear if this feature will be offered on the production model.

Where and how will it be made?

The Tata Avinya range will be manufactured at the new TMPV-JLR (Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Jaguar Land Rover) production facility in Panpakkam, Tamil Nadu. This is a greenfield plant being set up specifically for premium and luxury-tier vehicles. The initial annual production target is approximately 24,000 units, which would make the Avinya a relatively exclusive offering in the Indian market by volume standards.

Tata Motors is expected to unveil the Avinya brand in 2026, although an exact launch timeline has not been announced yet. The Avinya Fastback is likely to be the first model to arrive, followed by the Avinya SUV. With design patents now surfacing, development of the new EV lineup appears to be moving ahead as planned. The Avinya range will be positioned above Tata's current electric vehicle portfolio and is expected to offer more premium features and technology.
